Agency workers for fresh produce

An order that comes in on Friday evening and has to be on the pallet by Monday morning does not wait for a recruitment process. We supply people who know the line, the cold store and the packing floor.

What makes this work different

Fresh produce is perishable. What does not go through the sorting line today is a markdown in three days. That is why this sector plans by the day and not by the month: a promotion at a supermarket chain, a batch that ripens early, a lorry that arrives late. An agency that needs a week for that is not help.

We work with fixed crews and a foreman who speaks the crew's language. That way you explain what you want once instead of fifteen times. And if an extra pallet has to go out at two in the afternoon, you call one number.

Where we supply

We are based in The Hague and supply traders and processors within driving distance. We arrange transport ourselves: we bring the crew to your site and collect them after the shift, including a shift that starts at five in the morning.

The work

What we supply people for. If your work is not listed, it is usually a variant of one of these — call and tell us.

  • Sorting and quality control

Sorting by class, size and colour, and taking out the rejects before the box is closed. A complaint from the retailer always costs more than the sorting did.

  • Packing and repacking

Trays, flowpack, nets and boxes. Repacking for a promotion as well: same product, different packaging, finished within two days.

  • Line work

Feeding, taking off, labelling and weighing. Work where pace and consistency matter more than experience — but where a crew that does not know it brings the line to a halt.

  • Cold store work

Order picking and packing at 2 to 7 °C. That is not the same as standing in the cold store for an hour; we tell you in advance who has done this before and who has not.

  • Palletising and internal transport

Building, wrapping and moving pallets. Pallet truck or forklift only by someone with a valid certificate — we check the number and the date.

Hours, peaks and conditions

Start time
Often between five and seven in the morning, because last night's order has to leave this morning.
Shifts
Single and two-shift rotas. An evening shift is possible, but ask a week ahead; we do not send people who have no idea what they are walking into.
Busiest days
The start and the end of the week: the weekend's intake and the order for the weekend.
Season
Soft fruit in summer, citrus and apples in autumn. Outside that, a level crew with peaks around promotions and public holidays.

What we arrange before the first shift

Not because it looks good on a website, but because the fine lands on your desk.

  • Identity checked against the original document, with a copy on file.
  • Residence or work document checked, including its expiry date — and an alert in the system before that date passes.
  • Forklift, reach truck and pallet truck certificates checked by number and expiry date.
  • Hygiene instruction in the worker's own language before the first shift, because an audit will ask about it.
  • Hours recorded per day and visible to you, so the timesheet and the invoice say the same thing.

Pay and collective agreement

Our agency worker is paid according to your terms, not ours. The collective agreement for agency workers requires that they receive terms equivalent to someone on your own payroll: pay, allowances, expenses and leave. For that we need your pay structure — scales, allowance percentages and expense rules — and we enter it into our system once. After that the system calculates every week with those percentages, not with an estimate.

Which collective agreement applies to you

In fresh produce wholesale we usually encounter the Groothandel in Groenten en Fruit agreement; at processors, the Groenten- en fruitverwerkende industrie agreement. Which one applies to you follows from your company's activity, not from an assumption on our side. We ask, record it, and calculate with it.
