Processing and packing

Agency workers for production and packing

Machine operation, packing, checking and cleaning. A line standing still because two people are missing costs more than a year of agency margin.

What makes this work different

On a production line, staffing is not an average. Four of five positions filled is not eighty per cent of production; it is a line running at half speed or not starting at all. The only number that counts is this: were all positions filled at start-up?

So we plan with a spare in the crew and we call at night when someone reports sick, not in the morning. And if we are not going to make it, you hear that before start-up and not after. That is not service, that is the minimum.

The work

What we supply people for. If your work is not listed, it is usually a variant of one of these — call and tell us.

  • Machine operation

Starting, feeding and clearing minor faults on filling, sealing, flowpack and labelling machines. Not every packer can do this; we tell you who can.

  • Packing and labelling

By hand and on the line. Cases, trays, bundles and labels. Work where the same pace all day is worth more than a fast start.

  • Checking and weighing

Weight, appearance, foreign material and label checks. A missed deviation leaves the building as a recall; our people know why they are standing there.

  • Cleaning and hygiene

Changeovers between batches, cleaning lines and releasing them according to your procedure. Often the work you find hardest to staff — and therefore the work we arrange.

  • Palletising and dispatch

Cases onto pallets, wrapping, labelling and on to outbound. Pallet truck or forklift only with a valid certificate.

Hours, peaks and conditions

Shifts
Two and three-shift rotas starting around six, two and ten o'clock. A weekend shift is possible.
Start-up
Our crew is inside a quarter of an hour before the shift. A line does not start while people are still changing.
Conditions
Noise, standing work, sometimes chilled. Hearing protection and workwear according to your rules, not according to our guess.
Hygiene
Hairnet, no jewellery, hands by procedure. We go through this before the first shift, in the worker's language.

What we arrange before the first shift

Not because it looks good on a website, but because the fine lands on your desk.

  • Identity checked against the original document, with a copy on file.
  • Residence or work document checked, including its expiry date — and an alert in the system before that date passes.
  • Hygiene and allergen instruction before the first shift, in their own language. A BRC or IFS audit will press you on this.
  • Hearing protection and work instruction arranged before the crew goes in.
  • Hours recorded per day and visible to you, broken down by shift and by allowance.

Pay and collective agreement

Our agency worker is paid according to your terms, not ours. The collective agreement for agency workers requires that they receive terms equivalent to someone on your own payroll: pay, allowances, expenses and leave. For that we need your pay structure — scales, allowance percentages and expense rules — and we enter it into our system once. After that the system calculates every week with those percentages, not with an estimate.

Which collective agreement applies to you

In production the agreement follows the product: Groenten- en fruitverwerkende industrie, an agreement for meat, confectionery or bakery, or a company agreement of its own. We ask you which one applies and with which shift allowances, and enter that into our system. That is also exactly what an inspection will later want to see from you.

Need people for your line?

Tell us which shift and from what date. You get an answer within one working day — and if we cannot deliver, we say that too.
